In 2012, at fifteen Matt knew he was ready to move up to a full size modified, but there was a problem, he was too young. Matt’s dad talked the track owner into letting him come down and try to race. Matt had a great rookie year, picking up four wins, the Rookie of the Year title, the Young Gun Award, and Kendall Motor Oil Racer of the Month.

In 2013, at sixteen Matt moved up to the Outlaw bodied Super Late Models. Matt had another solid year, once again winning Rookie of the Year, and picking up a win. In 2014 Matt continued to race in the Outlaw Super Late models picking up more wins including becoming the youngest driver to win the Mid season Championships. 2014 was also when Matt got his first experience in NASCAR testing with a Camping World truck team, and attending his first NASCAR Rookie Seminar at Daytona.

In 2015 Matt continued racing his Outlaw Late Model and made his debut in the Championship Racing Association (CRA). Matt ran eight races and picked up several awards including the Hard Charger award at the Rattler in Alabama.

In 2016 Matt’s dream finally came true. Matt made his NASCAR debut in the Camping World Truck Series with SS Greenlight Racing at the famed Bristol Motor Speedway. Matt went on to race three more races that year with Greenlight at New Hampshire, Phoenix, and Texas.

In 2017 Matt made his Xfinity Series debut with BJ McLeod Motorsports at Phoenix, and Richmond. after that Matt teamed up with Faith Motorsports in for four races at Kansas, Dover, Charlotte, and Kentucky picking up a pair of career best finishes of seventeenth at Kansas and Dover.

In 2018 Matt started off the season with JD Motorsports and ran six races with the team. In August Matt teamed up with David Gilliland Racing in the truck series at Michigan and picked up his best qualifying effort of fourth. Matt finished out the season going back with BJ Motorsports at Richmond and Dover.
